PICK OF THE WEEK: “New York Grind” by Kareem Ali

Our favourite pick for the week goes to New York music producer & CosmoFlux Recordings label boss Kareem Ali with his four track EP titled “New York Grind”. Themed on nothing but hustling, the EP really gets you in a hustling mood with its upbeat tracks which will sure get you moving & dancing to wherever you need to be.

First on the EP is “Hustle” with its classic club track like groove. It comes in with its hard kicks , open & closed hats, with a vintage piano or organ type of  loop which is quite trancy might I add. It reminds you of that Larry Heard aka Mr Fingers type of jam. Though it remains authentic to its own make. The vocal work and vocal slices really give the song extensive colour & true rawness making it more awesome. Reminding you that this is New York and you gotta grind & go get that. Second on the release is Daily Struggles (Liv.e – Phunkintro [Mndsgn Remix] House Edit) really one for the books a house edit of Mndsgn’s remix of of Liv.e Phunkintro. Kareem brings this one to a whole new level flipping this funky gem into a groove machine , he also throws in his trumpet just spice it up!. You actually end up forgetting about daily struggles if you know what I’m saying as this one will put you in a world of its own.

The last two pieces ease you into a state of relaxation of deepness some may add Night Shift Noir & Rising (Outro)  closing off the grind with a mellow feel with one being a total ambient take with beautiful harmonies and intergalactic sounds.

& as statement from Kareem himself the release will also be available Vinyl next year 2020.

This EP is dedicated to all those hard workers out there hustling and grinding to make their dreams come true. From New York to the whole world!
